First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Secondly, I have been married for nearly 30 years to a wonderful, caring Christian man. We have three beautiful, adult children who are all committed Christians too. But, it has not been an easy journey to get here.
Currently, God has placed me as a high school teacher in Austin, Texas. He called me to this ministry as a second career about 8 years ago. Prior to that, I had various roles in the business world including entrepreneurship and consulting. Although teaching is harder than anything else I have ever done, when I let Him, God gives me all the strength I need. It is certainly the most rewarding thing I have ever been paid to do.
Although born and raised in the South, I have moved 6 times since meeting my husband. A few of those I fought kicking and screaming. Consequently, after living in the Northeast and the West Coast for 15 years, I am incredibly thankful to be back where most people talk like I do and in a culture in which I am most comfortable. I hope to never move again! Yet, if God asks me to I would. You see ever since I became a believer at 30 years old, God has shown me time and time again that His ways are best.
God has taken me through many difficult trials on my journey, but, I wouldn’t trade the lessons I’ve learned for anything. He has refined me with His refiners fire and taught me joy and peace in the midst. It is my privilege to share my journey in this blog.
